New TEMO 1000 Electric Outboard Motor

The TEMO·1000 is a compact electric outboard designed for larger tenders, dinghies and small sailboats. TEMO specifies an 1,100 W motor, 949 W of propulsive power and 27 kg (60 lb) of static thrust, with performance described as equivalent to a 3 HP combustion outboard. The complete system includes a removable 949 Wh battery, charger, safety device and mounting bracket.

TEMO states that the motor is intended for tenders and sailboats up to 8 metres and 1.5 tonnes. Its design combines a retractable tiller, onboard computer, automatic battery connection and a patented 360° rotating mounting bracket.

1,100 W Electric Propulsion

The TEMO·1000 uses a 1,100 W electric motor with 949 W of propulsive power. TEMO gives the motor a thermal-equivalent rating of 3 HP and a static thrust of 27 kg (60 lb). The horsepower figure is a comparison with combustion outboards, not a statement that the motor consumes 3 HP of electrical power.

949 Wh Removable Battery

The TEMO·1000 includes a 949 Wh cassette battery with automatic connection. The battery can be removed from the motor for charging, storage and handling. TEMO lists the battery at approximately 7 kg (15.4 lb) and the complete system at approximately 17 kg (35 lb).

Runtime and Range

TEMO advertises up to 4 hours of runtime. Actual operating time depends on throttle setting, boat type, load, water conditions and battery condition. Published maximum runtime should therefore be treated as a reference rather than a guaranteed trip duration.

Charging

The TEMO·1000 battery can be charged from 220 V mains or 12 V. TEMO lists approximately 5.5 hours for mains charging and 12 hours using 12 V. The North American version uses a 110 V charger for the local electrical supply.

Retractable Tiller and Controls

The TEMO·1000 uses a rotating control handle for acceleration and forward/reverse operation. The tiller retracts to simplify handling and storage, while the onboard computer provides operating information to the user.

360° Rotating Mounting Bracket

The patented 360° rotating mounting bracket allows the motor to rotate fully and be raised for shallow-water conditions or turned into the boat for handling and storage. TEMO states that the shaft height can be adjusted on an integrated sliding rail from approximately 8.5 cm to 37.8 cm.

Three Tilt Positions

The TEMO·1000 provides three tilt positions for different operating and storage conditions. Correct propeller immersion is important for maintaining thrust and avoiding ventilation.

Standard Propeller

The standard TEMO·1000 propeller is a two-blade 27 cm propeller, approximately 10.6 inches. TEMO’s current product specification does not list an optional propeller.

Boat Applications

TEMO describes the TEMO·1000 for large tenders and small sailboats up to 8 metres or 1.5 tonnes. The manufacturer also describes use with dinghies, rowboats and sailing dinghies, including boats carrying up to six people. Actual suitability depends on hull, load and operating conditions.

Lightweight Design

The TEMO·1000 weighs approximately 17 kg total, including its 7 kg battery, while TEMO lists the motor alone at approximately 10 kg. The removable battery also makes the system easier to handle when the motor and battery need to be stored separately.

IP67 Protection and Maintenance

TEMO lists the TEMO·1000 with an IP67 ingress-protection rating. The manufacturer recommends rinsing the motor unit and battery separately after use and storing the motor in a clean location protected from temperature variations.
